Founded in 1998, the Columbia City farmers market brings over 40 Washington State farmers and small food vendors to this historic neighborhood in Seattle’s Rainier Valley. Market days are full of the colors and sounds of shoppers from around the world who live and work in this community.

A visual and aromatic feast, farm tables at this market are loaded with the region's freshest fruits and vegetables, organic produce, free-range eggs, hazelnuts, honey, ciders, cheeses, seafood, free-range chickens, pasture-raised organic beef, baked goods, jams, sauces, cut flowers, nursery stock, fresh bread and other baked goods.

Hours and Location:

Wednesdays, April 29 through October 21, from 3pm to 7pm, in the Columbia Plaza at 4801 Rainier Ave South (at South Edmunds). There is street parking in the vicinity, or shoppers can get a free 2-hour parking token at the Market information table for the lot on Ferdinand St.  Also look for A-board signs to free parking lots near the market.  

Directions:

From I-90, take the Rainier Avenue South exit. Continue south on Rainier Avenue for approximately three miles. The market is on the right.

From I-5, take the Columbian Way exit, continue over Beacon Hill on 15th Avenue South and Columbian Way. At the base of Beacon Hill, cross Martin Luther King Way South on Alaska. Turn right on Rainier and continue one long block to South Edmonds.

Bus routes 7, 9, 39, 42 provide service to Columbia City from downtown Seattle. Route 48 travels from the University District.

 MARKET NEWS UPDATE:  

As many of you may already be aware, the Columbia Plaza was bought by HAL real estate developers a couple of years ago, and the market will likely need a new home in 2010 or 2011.  Fortunately, HAL is committed to allowing the market to stay at its current location through 2009, and possibly also in 2010.  The Friends of the Columbia City Farmers Market is a group of market staff, community stakeholders, neighbors, market supporters and others who have been meeting regularly since the purchase to work on this issue, as well as investigating numerous alternate locations for the market. We will post any news or updates about the future market location here, and via community newspapers, the wikli, etc.  (If you hear a rumor or are wondering if there are any updates, feel free to check here for the facts.)  Note: Markets can be moved!  Last year we successfully moved the Lake City Farmers Market to its new (much improved) location at Albert Davis Park, two blocks away from its old location next to the fire station.
