Eat Local for Thanksgiving! Chef Kim O’Donnel at Broadway November 14

Kim O’Donnel, longtime chef and food journalist, recently returned from Washington, D.C., where she joined hundreds of other chefs at the White House to talk about kids and food — and had a tour of Michelle Obama’s kitchen garden.  Don’t miss this amazing opportunity to hear about Chef Kim’s mission, her stories, and learn how to use what's fresh NOW from local farms to create fantastic dishes for your Thanksgiving feast.

The original Thanksgiving Feast celebrated the first local harvest: at the farmers markets, we're celebrating our local fall harvest of 2010!  At U-District, West Seattle and Broadway Farmers Markets right now, you can find all kinds of winter braising greens, brussles sprouts, hazelnuts, all kinds of root vegetables (beets, parsnips, carrots, dozens of potatoes of every hue and texture), onions and garlic and shallots, organic and pasture-raised meats and poultry, fresh eggs, farmstead cheeses, dried fruits and wild mushrooms, and of course plenty of fresh local apples, winter squashes and sugar pie pumpkins.  There are also local grains and ciders, including hard ciders to compliment any holiday meal.
